General Motors announced today that Karl Chevrolet of Ankeny, Iowa, is the country’s best-selling dealership of GM Certified Used Vehicles for the third year in a row. The honor comes just four years after joining the program in 2004.

Annually, the GM Certified Used Vehicles Program honors its national sales leader. Out of the 3,800 GM dealers in the program throughout the country, Karl Chevrolet came out on top selling 1,631 vehi cles in 2008.

The GM Certified program adds credibility and value to the pre-owned cars we sell because our sales people are selling a reliable product,” said Carl Moyer, owner Karl Chevrolet. “The GM name carries a lot of weight with consumers and its new 12-month and 12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, in addition to the 100,000 mile or five-year limited powertrain warranty, is synonymous with value and peace-of-mind.”

GM Certified Used Vehicles sold an industry-leading 422,114 units in 2008, finishing as the nation’s top-selling manufacturer-certified brand for the seventh consecutive year.

“The success of the GM Certified Used Vehicles program has become a bright spot for GM during these uncertain economic times,” said Ed Peper, GM North America vice president of Chevrolet. “The Certified program allows dealers, like Karl Chevrolet, to become more profitable and establish additional relationships with great customers.”

Since Karl Chevrolet opened in 1978 in Ankeny, the dealership has also been named six time consecutive Chevrolet dealer of the year and has earned the mark of excellence for eight years in a row.

“Karl Chevrolet’s position as the national sales leader demonstrates that even in challenging economic times, it is possible for GM Certified dealers to continue to shine in sales and customer service,” said Paul Pejza, manager, GM Certified Used Vehicles. “As the certified used leader in the market, we believe our customers should get the best vehicles and the best value whether they buy new or used.”
