2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid

Chrysler Aspen has two-mode HEMI hybrid system that takes the Aspen one step further
with a unique electrically variable transmission.

Aspen HEMI hybrid delivers 385 hp.

The first mode is for low speeds and the vehicle can operate in electric-only, engine-only or a combination of the tow. In this mode the engine is shut of and fuel consumption is reduced significantly, especially in heavy stop-and-go traffic where regenerative braking harnesses the energy normally lost when braking and uses it to charge the battery.

The second mode is for higher speeds. The system utilizes not only the full power from the 5.7L HEMI V-8 engine but also an electrical assist. This feature improves passing and acceleration performance without sacrificing fuel economy - and still provides the capability of a full-size SUV.
